Toshi has provided his specialized carpentry skills to a variety of Japanese-themed projects throughout Southern California. From Asian-theme restaurants to private homes, corporate offices to retail shops, Toshi has added his Japanese craftsmanship to site-built work all across Southern California and beyond.
Toshi and Barrban Woodworks provided complete woodworking services for the building and Japanese garden at the flagship location of Gonpachi in the United States. The spectacular building includes intimate spaces encompassing many uses, from the quiet, garden-side bar lounge, to the passages connecting the private tatami rooms to the vast open interior of the main dining room. In all these spaces, Toshi worked with the designers to create the sense of being transported to Japan.
Toshi specializes in fine, detailed woodwork such as lattice railing, shoji (rice paper or synthetic) screens, and other Japanese details.
Toshi has created Japanese tea rooms in a variety of locations, including private homes and corporate office suites.
Toshi has crafted exterior fences and gateways using Western Red Cedar and California Redwood.
